Design students at Institute of Technology Carlow are gearing up for their end of year design show, entitled 21 Design, which opens on Friday evening (25th May) and runs until 31st May.

Every year the end of year design show demonstrates the very best of design work from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year designCORE undergraduates and the final degree show of the 4th Year honours degree in Product Design Innovation, from the Faculty of Business and Humanities.  The show will also provide a wonderful insight into the important work being undertaken at designCORE Research Centre.

Commenting on the upcoming show, Colin Deevy, Director of Research and Programme Director for designCORE said, “This year’s theme will highlight issues of ‘diversity and inclusion’.  In doing so, it seeks to support the drive by Institute of Technology Carlow to achieve a Bronze Award for gender-equality in research under the Athena Swan banner. This will provide a means by which IT Carlow may become a more open, inclusive, diverse and creative educational and research environment in which to work, as we collectively move towards TUSE in the years ahead”.

Opening at 6.30pm in the upstairs restaurant of the main concourse, 21 Design is open to all and the designCORE is encouraging anyone interested in the design, engineering and creative industries, as well as family and friends, to attend.
