Institute of Technology Carlow welcomed social care organisations back on campus as part of the recently held careers development seminar.
Students in attendance gathered vital information on the various social care services available and heard about the high levels of professionalism needed as a social care worker. The seminar encouraged IT Carlow social care students to develop good communication and networking opportunities with other professionals in the sector.
Some 20 social care organisations were represented at the seminar and the social care workers present shared their own professional journeys, including the education, experiences and knowledge they have developed over the years working in social care services.
The professionals who spoke with the students provided valuable insight into the work carried out within their services. As well as benefitting from the event, social care students also had the opportunity to network with potential employers and have their CV reviewed by a final year human resource student. Many students availed of this service and found it extremely helpful, especially those applying for social care placements and jobs.
