On Tuesday March 4th, IT Carlow will welcome a number of UNUM Senior Executives from both Ireland and the US to the Carlow campus. Among them will be COO Kate Miller as well as Melinda McGee and Tim Arnold from UNUM’s Colonial Life company in South Carolina.
UNUM is a multinational fortune 250 company with 10,000 employees. It delivers employee benefits products worldwide. The Carlow office of UNUM has a particular focus on innovation development for some of the company’s new software offerings, particularly those using mobile capabilities. The collaborative partnership between UNUM and IT Carlow has gone from strength to strength over the last number of years with six IT Carlow students due to join UNUM for an internship at the end of March.
The on-campus UNUM Software Development Centre enables both partners to match up current and future software development needs with the curriculum design at IT Carlow. In 2013 UNUM hired twelve IT Carlow graduates and are currently recruiting for more graduate positions.
