Institute of Technology Carlow extends its warmest wishes to the students who are part of Team Ireland participating in the 2019 World University Games in Napoli.

Sports scholarship students Amanda Mc Quillan, Lauren Doyle and Megan Lynch are part of the starting 11 in the Women’s Football team beginning its Group C campaign at 8pm tonight in the Stadio San Mauro against 2017 champions Brazil.  Late call up Lauryn O’Callaghan from IT Carlow is also hoping to feature over the course of the game.

The Institute is well represented at the games with nine athletes en route to Naples, making Institute of Technology Carlow one of the biggest contributors to the travelling Irish delegation. In addition to the women’s football representatives, scholarship students Alan O’Sullivan, Dean Kelly and Anthony Mc Alavey will represent the Men’s Soccer team with Luke Hardy (Dept Sport Media and Marketing) also traveling as team coach. The final two IT Carlow representatives at the Games are Marcus Lawler and Cliodhna Manning (Athletics). In total, the travelling Irish delegation comprises 53 athletes and 22 officials, with athletes competing in four sports: Athletics, Archery, Football (Men’s and Women’s) and Taekwondo.

We wish everyone the very best of luck in their competitions over the next twelve days. #COYBIG #COYGIG
