Is féile idirnáisiúnta Ghaeilge í Seachtain na Gaeilge, atá ar an gceiliúradh is mó dár dteanga agus dár gcultúr dúchais a bhíonn ar siúl in Éirinn agus in go leor tíortha eile gach bliain ó 1-17 Márta.
Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival, which is the biggest celebration of our native language and culture in Ireland and many other countries every year. The festival runs from 1st to the 17th of March, with a view to encouraging people to use as much Irish as they can and maybe learn something new.
Institute of Technology Carlow will hold a number of events during the festival including; A Seachtain na Gaeilge exhibition on view in the Library; Introductory to basic Irish class for beginners; Marbh le Tae (Irish Conversation Coffee Morning); Mass in Irish; Scrabble afternoon in Irish.
Speaking about the festival, Ronan Lynch, Liaison Librarian and organiser of these events at Institute of Technology Carlow said, “Seachtain na Gaeilge is a great way to celebrate Irish language and culture, whether you are a fluent speaker or want to get exposed to the language for the first time. Our events on campus are open to all who are interested in the Irish Language and all events are made as fun and as informal as possible, whether you can speak a “cúpla focal” or not.
Every year people tell me how they would love to speak Irish or improve their Irish. We have a lot of Irish Language books and resources in the Library to help you get started and Seachtain na Gaeilge is a chance to take that next step”
