Jack Cremmins, a 4th Year Electrical/Instrumentation apprentice studying at Institute of Technology Carlow, has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence at the annual Engineers Ireland MEETA student awards.
The MEETA Annual Student Project Awards is open to all full-time and part-time engineering students, from level 6 to level 9 on the National Framework of Qualification across the entire third-level sector in Ireland. Students who have completed a project has part of their final year are eligible to enter.
Jack’s project capitalised on Industry 4.0 (Internet of Things) to record and trend information obtained from a range of process instruments, such as pH, Temperature and Dissolved Oxygen. The project allows maintenance technicians, plant engineers and operations staff to remotely monitor these important parameters. The project also allows remote connection for troubleshooting purposes which enhances the toolbox available to all staff in plant maintenance.
