Carlow-based designer Kim Mackenzie-Doyle, of design research centre designCORE based in IT Carlow, has been selected as an adjudicators of this year’s prestigious Institute of Designers Ireland (IDI) Awards.
Established in 1972, Institute of Designers Ireland (IDI) represents the Irish design sectors across all design disciplines and champions the cause of some 20,000 undergraduate and qualified designers in Ireland today. The IDI Awards recognise the best in Irish Design. Kim joins a prestigious panel of adjudicators that includes fashion designer Sonya Lennon, Damien O’Connor of Brown Bag Films and Alex Milton, the programme director for ID2015.
An internationally-recognised product designer and winner of multiple global design awards – including the world’s best-selling computer mouse – Kim worked as a design consultant before joining IT Carlow’s designCORE hub. She is responsible for enterprise research and collaborates with Irish SMEs on product research & development, design thinking and strategy.
This year’s IDI Awards features a broad range of categories including: Design Education; Sustainable Design; Visual Communications; Clothing & Covering; Moving Image and Universal Design, amongst others. The closing date for entries is 7th September and the awards will take place in the Marker Hotel, Dublin on 7th November.
