JUST THE MEDICINE FOR PHARMA TECH STUDENTS
The laboratories at IT Carlow now feature the newest pharmacy software system on the market, TouchStore, bringing the School of Science’s number of pharma software systems to three. This will ensure the Institute’s pharmacy technician students are up to date with every system in use in the country, guaranteeing they are employment ready, according to the head of school Paula Rankin.
'The Department of Science and Health at IT Carlow is delighted with the support of TouchStore in the delivery of our Higher Certificate in Pharmacy Technician Studies. This support is invaluable and has enabled us to provide dispensary management training to ensure our students are employment-ready as many of the pharmacy chains and symbol groups are starting to use Touchstore”, said Paula Rankin, Head of School, Department of Science & Health.
TouchStore is the newest of the three software systems in use in Irish pharmacies and chemists. Ireland. IT Carlow’s 56 pharmacy technician students across first and second year use computer software during Regulations and Dispensing classes and Pharmacy Practice Classes. The Institute’s mock dispensary features 14 computers and printers.
“The past two years has seen a major increase in the number of pharmacies using TouchStore Rx and we are delighted to have our system installed in new lab at Carlow IT. It is very important that students have as much experience as possible when entering the dispensary. Having a working knowledge of our software will make it so much easier and I’d personally like to thank everyone involved at Carlow IT for making this happen”, said Gerard Cassidy, CEO, TouchStore.
